DNA is found in all living things--it is the blueprint of life. There are an estimated 3 billion DNA bases in our genome. Each of us has enough DNA to reach from here to the sun and back more than 300 times.
DNA is made up of chemicals, Building blocks abbreviated A, C, T, and G,. The entire length of a DNA strand consists of these four blocks in different combinations. Together, all the DNA in all chromosomes –more than 3 billion letters-make up the human Genome. When scientists say they have “sequenced” the human genome, they mean they have figured out the order of all those A’s. C’s, T’s, G’s in sequence.
